Serang is located on the western tip of Java Island. It is the gateway to Banten Province. It is the capital city of Banten Province and is rich in history and culture. One of the most famous landmarks in Serang is Old Banten or “Banten Lama”. It is a historical site that was once the center of the powerful Banten Sultanate. Here, you can see ancient ruins, including a grand mosque and tombstones that tell stories of a glorious era long ago.
Another must-visit site is Masjid Agung Serang, Masjid Ats-Tsauroh, located on Jalan Ahmad Yani Number 11. This congregational mosque, founded in 1870. It is one of the oldest mosques in Banten Province. Its stunning architecture makes it a peaceful and inspiring place to visit.
