Pengertian Report Text

What is report text? Kalian sudah pernah mengetahui tentang report text belum? Report text is a text that presents information about something in general based on research. Dalam bahasa Indonesia, report text adalah teks yang berisikan informasi mengenai sesuatu secara umum berdasarkan suatu penelitian. Report text bisa juga diartikan sebagai teks laporan. Contoh report text, antara lain artikel-artikel ilmiah yang ada pada ensiklopedia.

Ciri-ciri Report Text:

• General classification: Paragraf pertama biasanya berisi klasifikasi umum tentang topik yang dibahas. Contoh: “Cats are mammals.” (Kucing adalah mamalia.)
• Description: Paragraf selanjutnya memberikan deskripsi lebih detail tentang ciri-ciri, jenis, atau bagian-bagian dari topik tersebut. Contoh: “They have four legs, fur, and a tail.” (Mereka memiliki empat kaki, bulu, dan ekor.)

Struktur Report Text:

• General classification: Kalimat umum yang mengklasifikasikan topik.
• Description: Deskripsi rinci tentang topik, termasuk ciri-ciri fisik, perilaku, atau fungsi.

Tujuan Report Text:

• Memberikan informasi: Menjelaskan suatu topik secara jelas dan ringkas.
• Meningkatkan pengetahuan: Membantu pembaca memahami suatu hal dengan lebih baik.
• Membandingkan: Membandingkan antara satu topik dengan topik lainnya.

Ciri-Ciri Kebahasaan (Language Features)

1. Menggunakan Simple Present Tense.
   Contoh:
   • Elephants are large mammals.
   • They live in forests and grasslands.
2. Menggunakan istilah teknis terkait topik.
   Contoh: Habitat, ecosystem, diet.
3. Menggunakan kata benda umum (general nouns).
   Contoh: Birds, plants, cars.
4. Kadang menggunakan gambar, tabel, atau diagram untuk mendukung informasi.
