Two Silly Goats

Two goats met on a very narrow bridge. Below them, the river was deep and fast. Both goats wanted to cross, but the bridge was too small for two.

Bumpy: “Hey! Get out of my way! I have no time to wait for you. Move back now!”

Ziggy: “Forget it! I was here first. You should be the one to go back to the start!”

Neither goat wanted to step aside. They were both very stubborn. They stood still and looked at each other with angry eyes.

Bumpy: “I am big and strong. If you do not move, I will push you into the water!”

Ziggy: “I am not afraid of you! I will stand my ground here until tomorrow morning!”

They lowered their heads. Their horns crashed together loudly. They pushed and they shoved with all their might.

Bumpy: “Move! This is my bridge! I am the boss of this narrow path today!”

Ziggy: “Never! I will not move an inch for someone as rude as you!”

Suddenly, they both slipped. The bridge was slippery. They fell down into the cold river with a very loud splash.

Bumpy: “Help! My fur is soaking wet! This was a very bad idea, my friend!”

Ziggy: “Oh no! I am shivering! Why were we so stubborn? Now we are both wet!”

They both lost because they did not want to share. When we are too stubborn, everyone loses in the end. It is always better to be patient and give way than to be right but ending up in trouble.
